What we collect

  • Messages you send us. If you use the contact form we receive your name, email address and message, and use them only to reply.
  • Newsletter signups. If you subscribe, your email address is held by our email provider, Sender.net, and used to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email.

  • Usage data. Like most sites, our server records technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited. We also use Google Analytics, which shows us which pages are read and how visitors arrive. It is only switched on if you agree through the cookie banner.
  • Cookies. We use cookies for the site to work and, where you agree, for measurement. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

Affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link, the company we link to may set its own cookie to record the referral. We don’t show third-party display ads. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

How we use your information
To reply to messages, send the newsletter you asked for, keep the site secure and working, and understand which content is useful so we can improve it. We don’t sell your personal information.

Who else sees it
Service providers that run the site for us: web hosting, email delivery, our newsletter provider (Sender.net) and Google (Analytics). They may only use it to provide their service. Their own privacy policies apply to their handling of your data.

How long we keep it
Contact messages: kept until we delete them, and deleted on request. Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe. Analytics data: 14 months. Server logs: per our host’s default.

Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or unsubscribe at any time. Under UK data protection law you also have the right to object to or restrict how we use it. Use the contact form and we’ll respond. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children
This site is for adults running or planning a business. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Links to other sites
We link to suppliers and tools. Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top.
