Video 10 – Shopify Tutorial For Beginners – Advertising Overview
Hey Ezra back with you and I wanted to show you my advertising road map.
So, this is kind of how we are successful with purchasing advertising online to our Shopify store.
It all starts with the goal right, so what are you trying to achieve? And we have kind of gone over that, and I’ll go over that in just a minute but then once you know what you want, for us obviously our first sale, but once you know what you want then it comes down to targeting so like who are you putting your message in front of and then it’s actually creative meaning the message you put in front of them, then its optimizing and trying to do a better job going forward and just do that over and over.
So, I’ve got some core principles of advertising, the first is that successful advertising goes from wide to narrow meaning you start with a lot of different stuff as you will see and then you figure out what works and then you do more of what works.
Then finally everything hinges on targeting, so if you put your message in front of the wrong group of people then you’re not going to be successful.
So, the people who you put your message in front of put your advertisement in front of have to be actually interested right?
They have to be actually interested in what you are offering them, so we are going to talk about who we might target in some sort of best practises for figuring out who might be good people to put our advertisement in front of.
Then we will look at what we should actually put in front of them, because we have already worked on our offer page.
Our offer page that we are sending people too, our shopping cart kind of our store making sure that’s all ready for people to view it, it’s all optimized for conversion.
Now I want to make sure that we are clear on our goal, so your goal is really lead generation so like you have got exit-intent on your website and if people come and they don’t buy you can try get their email address.
Full price sales so actually generating that first sale and beyond.
Building a community and building your brand, generating repeat customers.
That’s really what we are going for in this course and so in the next video we are actually going to talk a little bit about Facebook advertising because everything that we are going to be doing and the targeting section of Facebook lives on the ad set level.
So, the way Facebook is set up you have campaigns and inside of those campaigns you have ad sets and inside of those you have ads and all this will make a little more sense as we continue to move forward.
But for now, we are going to be focusing the targeting portion of Facebook figuring out who we want to target for our ads so I’ll see you in the next video we will discuss the Facebook platform, how we should be targeting and then we will actually start building out some groups of people you can put your message in front of.
